Golden State Showdown – Week #1 Matchups Preview

Let's kick off the first ever week of the Golden State Showdown!

The Golden State Showdown kicks off this week with three exciting high school girls’ flag football matchups across Northern California. Our coverage team will be highlighting all of them and making a special in-person visit to the Rocklin vs. Vanden game.

Here’s all the information you need to stay in the loop for this week’s game.

Featured Showdown: Rocklin vs. Vanden

Date: 8/27/2025

Kickoff: 5:30 P.M.

Location: Vanden High School/George A. Gammon Field, Fairfield

Preview: As the first game featured in the Golden State Showdown, Vanden vs. Rocklin’s results could go either way: both teams finished third in their league during the 2024 season. While the game classifies as non-league so it won’t count for either’s league standing, overall records do factor into CCS playoffs. Vanden’s varsity team has currently not begun their season, while Rocklin will enter the match with a 1-1 overall record. 

Matchup 2: Chavez vs. Franklin

Date: 8/27/2025

Kickoff: 6:00

Location: Franklin High School/Yellowjackets Stadium, Stockton

Preview: This matchup will be the first league game played by either team, potentially setting the tone for the remainder of their seasons.

Matchup 3: Palma vs. Salinas

Date: 8/29/2025

Kickoff: 5:45

Location: Salinas High School/Rabobank Stadium, Salinas

Winning this matchup could be a difficult feat, as both teams performed extremely well during the 2024 season with rarely any losses. As the first game of both of their seasons, this game will highlight the hard work both teams have put in during the off-season.
